SUMMARY:Integrating Socio-Economic Diversity into Inclusive Strategies
DESCRIPTION:Roundtable: Discuss how to integrate socio-economic diversity into your organisational inclusive strategies.\n\n\nTo register for this roundtable\, please RSVP by contacting info@progresstogether.co.uk. \nIntersectionality is an area that needs to be embedded across every area of the firm and thought of without silos to just the DEI\, CSR and HR functions. Intersectionality recognises that diversity and the issues faces by a specific marginalised group cannot be reduced to only one part of an identity; each barrier is dependent on and shapes the other. Understanding intersectionality is essential to combatting the interwoven prejudices and the institutional issues that still exist. \nProgress Together\, partnered with Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG)\, want to take this opportunity to bring senior leaders from across the industry together in a roundtable format event to discuss key themes around diversity and intersectionality faced by firms\, along with actions taken\, outcomes and best practises. By sharing success stories\, as well as challenges\, we should be able to work towards a more equitable workforce in the industry and help to break down social mobility barriers. \nThe aim is for each roundtable to delve into complexities that the topic presents\, as well as potential solutions\, ending with a key call to action. Topics will include: \n\nHow can organisations ensure that socio-economic background is integrated as a core component of their diversity and inclusion strategies\, alongside other diversity factors such as race\, gender\, and disability?\nWhat best practices have been effective in recognising and addressing socio-economic diversity?\nHow can we measure the impact of socio-economic background on employee experiences and outcomes?\nCan you provide examples where addressing socio-economic background has led to positive changes in other areas of diversity?\nWhat challenges have you encountered in addressing these intersections\, and how have you overcome them?\nHow can we move beyond token gestures to implement meaningful and sustainable changes?\n\nThis roundtable is ideal for those working in P&L generating and client focussed areas (front office)\, social sustainability\, corporate social responsibility (CSR)\, corporate reporting and governance\, HR\, and diversity\, equity and inclusion (DEI) teams. \nProgress Together is a data controller and processes personal data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018. SUMMARY:Heads of Internal Audit
DESCRIPTION:Roundtable: Collectively share insights and best practice to progress D&I\, specifically socio-economic diversity\, together.\n\n\nAs the FCA/PRA agenda on Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) evolves and matures\, financial services’ Boards and senior leaders are preparing for greater accountability\, transparency and stakeholder engagement surrounding their D&I arrangements. Recognising D&I as a non-financial risk in its recent Consultation Papers\, the PRA calls out the role of risk\, compliance and internal audit functions in contributing to the “firm’s controls around the strategies\, helping (firms) measure progress and assess how to improve over time.” The FCA also sees the role of Internal Audit functions to “help boards to ensure a higher degree of scrutiny\, with senior management held accountable for delivering on D&I”. \nReflecting the need to embed D&I into a firm’s risk and governance framework\, Progress Together and BDO invite you to a Heads of Internal Audit Roundtable\, exploring meaningful steps internal audit teams can take when embarking on D&I audit scopes. With guest speakers from the Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors and under the Chatham House rules\, we will collectively share insights\, challenges and best practice to progress D&I\, and specifically socio-economic diversity\, together. The event will be Chaired by Progress Together Board Member\, Dipi Mckernan. \nProgress Together is a data controller and processes personal data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018. SUMMARY:“S” in ESG Roundtable
DESCRIPTION:Let’s discuss how sustainability reporting can be leveraged for the socio-economic background agenda.\n\n\nThis is our third roundtable of the 2023/24 Programme. We recommend members share this with their colleagues working in social sustainability\, corporate social responsibility (CSR)\, corporate reporting and governance\, HR\, and diversity\, equity and inclusion (DEI) teams. \nESG stands for Environmental\, Social\, and Governance. In the context of sustainability agenda\, it is the set of criteria that is used by investors\, companies\, and other stakeholders to assess a company’s sustainability practices beyond the traditional financial metrics. \nSustainability reporting has ramped up over the past decade\, with investors and stakeholders demanding more transparency and accountability for companies’ performance – not just on financial matters but on sustainability / non-financial matters. There is now a plethora of sustainability reporting standards\, including the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI)\, Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB)\, Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD)\, Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP)\, and the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). \nHowever\, companies have tended to be more familiar with environmental and governance-related disclosures\, as opposed to social sustainability disclosures\, given the sequencing of the environmental reporting standards that have come to the fore in recent decades. Reporting standards for social matters have not yet received the same level of attention until in recent years. \nAs more companies are compelled by regulators and governments worldwide to report on social sustainability matters\, we want to help the financial services sector explore the level of maturity and understanding around social sustainability reporting – particularly in areas that could help bolster our shared objective of increasing socio-economic diversity at the very top of organisations: \n  \n\nStrategy: Clear articulation of how the company is progressing on the SEB agenda\nIssue identification: Clear articulation of the issues that matter to employees and stakeholders on socio-economic diversity\nData: Collection of SEB data and how the data is disaggregated (e.g.\, by region / location\, profession\, worker type)\nInternal engagement: How the company is currently engaging with the workforce across different SEB categories\nPolicies & practices: Labour and employment practices that impact disproportionately on low SEB employees\nExternal engagement: Community engagement particularly in deprived areas of the UK.\n\n  \nBy attending this roundtable\, attendees will: \n\nShare with others how sustainability reporting can be leveraged for the SEB agenda\nExplore processes and structures that will help them collect more information and data on employees from low SEB\nLearn how sustainability reporting can help firms formulate a roadmap for identifying gaps in addressing socio-economic diversity.\n\n  \nOur roundtable discussion will be moderated by Barry Murphy\, ESG Tax and Legal Services Leader at PwC. Barry will be joined by the following panelists: \n\nAmy Thompson\, Social Economist at Citi\nMahima Mitra\, DPhil\, Senior Lecturer in Organisation Studies at Saïd Business School\, University of Oxford\nHenry Philipson\, Marketing & Comms Director at Beringea and President of ESG_VC\nCyrus Suntook\, Sustainability & People Strategy Leader at Accenture\n\nAttendees are welcome to join us for a networking breakfast from 8:30am till 9:00am. The roundtable will start promptly at 9:00am. \nIf you would like to attend this roundtable virtually\, please contact info@progresstogether.co.uk. \nProgress Together is a data controller and processes personal data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018.
