SUMMARY:Elevating ERGs as Drivers of Organisational Change
DESCRIPTION:A workshop\, hosted by our Partners HSBC\, to discuss how ERGs can play a strategic role in shaping talent\, culture and operations.\n\n\nEmployee Resource Groups (ERGs) sit at a unique point within organisations: rooted in individual identity and lived experience\, yet able to cut across business lines\, functions and demographic groups. When empowered and connected\, they become conduits – carrying insight\, influence and momentum between employees and senior leaders. \nIn this member workshop for ERG Chairs\, and those who work with ERGs\, we’ll explore how ERGs can move beyond affinity spaces to play a strategic role in shaping talent\, culture and operational decision-making. We’ll look at how they channel lived experience to improve policies and everyday practice\, provide leadership pathways for under-represented talent\, and generate cultural momentum that helps organisations embed socio-economic inclusion over time. We’ll also explore how ERGs work across identities\, enabling intersectional insight and collaboration rather than siloed activity. \nWe’ll examine what helps ERGs thrive\, from effective sponsorship and routes into decision-making forums\, to resourcing\, recognition and long-term purpose\, and where organisations commonly face barriers. \n  \nWhy Members Should Attend \nSocio-economic inclusion doesn’t shift through data alone – it shifts when lived experience shapes decisions\, when leaders hear perspectives they don’t normally hear\, and when staff feel confident enough to speak\, influence and lead. ERGs are one of the few mechanisms that can unlock all three. This workshop shows ERG Chairs\, and colleagues who support ERGs\, exactly how to use that power. \nBy attending\, members will: \n\nStrengthen leadership decision-making by understanding how ERGs surface real lived experience insight that exposes blind spots\, highlights unintended consequences and improves operational judgement.\nBuild cultural confidence and momentum\, including how ERGs can improve staff disclosure rates\, create visible signals of progress and reinforce inclusion through day-to-day behaviours.\nUnlock new pathways for talent development\, using ERGs as spaces for leadership experience\, visibility and strategic influence — especially important for colleagues from lower socio-economic backgrounds.\nMove from identity silos to intersecting impact\, learning how networks can collaborate across characteristics to produce deeper change and richer organisational insight.\nLearn directly from leading practice\, with Progress Together Partners HSBC sharing how their socio-economic background ERG\, Strive\, influences decision-making and strengthens inclusion across the organisation.\nLearn from other ERGs and share their experience.\nLeave with practical tools and frameworks to strengthen\, refine or relaunch their own ERGs for maximum impact.\n\nHSBC’s Strive Employee Resource Group\, supporting colleagues from lower-socio economic backgrounds and first-generation professionals\, launched in 2022. Strive has grown to 3\,000 members\, 2\,500 of who are based in the UK. In 2025 Strive expanded to the Asia and Middle East region. Since launching\, Strive have implemented multiple successful initiatives\, including an internal mentoring programme\, development and awareness events\, and outreach initiatives with schools and universities across the UK. \nA delegates list containing names\, job titles and organisation will be shared with all attendees. If you do not want to appear in the delegates list\, please email: info@progresstogether.co.uk \nProgress Together events are recorded and shared via our website.
